MMM refutes ‘job for pals’ allegations

Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality (MMM) has refuted ‘job for pals’ claims, dismissing the allegations not only as unfounded, but also as those that undermine the integrity of the City’s recruitment process and professionalism of the municipality’s administration.

The Communications General Manager (GM) for the metro, Mr Qondile Khedama, said Mangaung Metro operates under a clearly defined Employment Policy which is a product of the Collective of Bargaining Process involving organized labour and relevant stakeholders.

He said the policy ensures fairness, transparency, and compliance with all applicable laws and ethical standards.

“Furthermore, the municipality is fully compliant with the Local Government: Municipal Staff Regulations, which provides a regulatory framework for Human Resource Management and are designed to ensure that municipalities attract and retain competent staff through merit-based recruitment processes.

The City is committed to upholding the principles of good governance, fairness, and accountability. Any recruitment conducted by the municipality is subject to rigorous oversight; whereby documentation, competitive shortlisting procedures, and interview processes that are standardised and audible,” said Khedama.

Khedama has since called on the public and the media to engage on facts and verified information; he assured the public that any claims of this nature will be attended to with the seriousness it deserves. Khedama said any claims of impropriety should be formerly reported through the appropriate legal or oversight channels, where they will be addressed with the seriousness they deserves.
