International investors set their eye on Free State

The Free State province in South Africa has attracted international investors who will be attending the second Free State Investment Conference (FSIC) this week with the aim to identify opportunities for investment and create jobs.

The province, which has been the bread basket of the country, is a significant economy contributing 5.0 percent towards the country’s GDP and has industries that promise great spin-offs for investors in the green energy sector, agriculture, finance, automobile, mining and many other sectors.

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) confirmed with The Business Weekly that Deputy Minister Ms Nomalungelo Gina will be attending the conference in Bloemfontein. The conference has attracted investors from Africa and from international shores, including the United States of America (USA), South Korea; Sri Lanka, the BRICS member states China and Russia, and African states including Angola, Ethopia.

The Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana, alongside with the MEC for the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) are set to promote the province as the preferred investment destination for both local and international direct and indirect investment.

The conference will highlight strategic investment opportunities and investment incentives that the province can offer.

The Free State Investment Conference (FSIC), will take place on 27 February 2024, at the Centenary Complex, University of the Free State (UFS) Main Campus, in Bloemfontein.
