JOHANNESBURG — The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has expanded its suite of investment products with the listing of two new Actively Managed Exchange Traded Funds (AMETFs): the Anchor EasyETFs Aspirant SA Equity (AASAET) and the Anchor EasyETFs Aspirant Global Equity (AAGEET).
The dual listing addresses a growing investor demand for high-conviction, actively managed strategies within a transparent, regulated, and liquid exchange-traded structure.
The two funds offer distinct regional focuses aimed at achieving long-term capital growth:
- Anchor EasyETFs Aspirant SA Equity AMETF: This portfolio focuses on South African equities listed on recognized exchanges. It utilizes a mix of macroeconomic insights and bottom-up research to dynamically allocate across various sectors and market capitalizations, using cash and liquid instruments to manage volatility.
- Anchor EasyETFs Aspirant Global Equity AMETF: Classified under the ASISA Global Equity General category, this fund targets international markets. It invests primarily in foreign-listed equities and may incorporate international ETFs or equivalent unlisted financial instruments.
“Anchor is bringing its highest-conviction global and local equity ideas to market through these two actively managed ETFs,” said Reko Nare, Portfolio Manager at Anchor, noting that the structures offer an accessible avenue to professionally managed portfolios.
Adèle Hattingh, Specialist Securities Manager at the JSE, highlighted that the new listings bridge active portfolio management with exchange liquidity, offering versatile tools for local and international diversification.
With these new additions, the JSE’s total ETF offerings rise to 139 listed funds, pushing the platform’s combined market capitalization beyond R267 billion.
