JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the departure of coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the expiration of their two-year contracts. The announcement marks the end of a transitional yet highly commendable chapter for Amakhosi.
Ben Youssef and Kaze originally arrived at Naturena during the 2024/25 campaign to serve as assistants to former head coach Nasreddine Nabi. However, following Nabi’s abrupt exit in October 2025, the duo was thrust into the spotlight to lead the senior team.
A Season of Resurgence
Despite the sudden structural shift, the tandem steered Chiefs through a massive 39-match campaign across the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup, and Nedbank Cup. Under their guidance, the Glamour Boys enjoyed a resurgent run, racking up:
- 19 wins
- 11 draws
- 9 losses
Most notably, the coaches guided Chiefs to an impressive 54 points in the league—the club’s second-best points tally in the past eleven years. Continental success was agonizingly close, too; Amakhosi narrowly missed out on the CAF Confederation Cup knockout phase on goal difference after finishing Group D with 10 points.
Looking Ahead
The coaching shake-up does not stop there. Conditioning coach Majdi Safi has also vacated his role following the conclusion of his contract.
In an official statement, Kaizer Chiefs extended their gratitude to the trio for their dedication and contribution. With the slate wiped clean, management has promised that “more announcements will follow during the course of the next few weeks” as Amakhosi prepares to rebuild for the upcoming season.
