Dukwana wishes matriculates well

Matric learners, class of 2024, officially kicked-off their final National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams on Monday, 21 October 2024, with their English first paper. A number of political leaders including parents are crossing their fingers for the learners.

The Speaker of the Free State Legislature Hon. Mxolisi Dukwana has joined the provincial leadership in wishing the learners well as they sit for their final examinations.

According to the Free State Provincial Government, no less than 37461 full-time and 8118 part-time learners are registered to write this year’s matric examination across 396 examination centres in the province.

Dukwana said the Legislature is happy with the progress made so far by the Provincial Government, and particularly the Department of Education, in ensuring that preparations for the exams run smoothly. He said the Free State Province is in its fifth year running as the top performing province with the previous results clocking a historic outcome of 89.03 %.

“While our role as the Legislature is to play oversight over the executive through our committee system, we can only go higher from this and ensure that we push for excellence. In our view, education success has the potential to strengthen the firmness of purpose among our people across all sectors that we too are committed to contribute the national development goals.

We call on all our learners to focus on the goals they set for themselves at the beginning of the year and to believe in your strengths. While it is important never to lose sight of your academic objective, ensure that your physical and mental wellbeing is prioritised throughout the exam period. The future is in your hands now, go and conquer it,” said Hon. Mxolisi Dukwana.

The Speaker added that the Free State Legislature also sends messages of encouragement to the Member of the Executive Council, Dr. Julia Maboya and her team of very capable teachers and administrators as well and key stakeholders in the sector.
