By Adv. Mthunzi Mhanga, the Spokesperson of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed to the media that the Investigative Directorate (ID) of the NPA raided the home of Parliament Speaker Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula on Tuesday 19 March 2024.
Mhanga says the search and seizure operation at Mapisa- Nqakula’s home relates to an investigation against her, but said the NPA will not be disclosing any information further relating to the matter.
It is reported that the Parliament Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is being investigated for corruption when she was still Minister of Defence, where she allegedly received bribes worth R2.3 million.
Following the raid at her home by the ID, opposition parties are calling for her resignation.
