South Africa is currently very interesting with so much taking place, corruption scandals being exposed involving politicians and ministers alike, the police working hand in clove with criminals and cartels.
Name dropping at the Mandlanga Commission and the Parliamentary Adhoc Committee has been a norm; many names have been dropped, including that of politicians and or parliamentarians, funny enough, of all the names that have been mentioned, none has gained traction as much as that of Julius Malema.

Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi recently mentioned Julius Malema in his testimony at the Adhoc Committee, where he said he met Gen Khan through him. Mkhwanazi was making a point that Khan is well known to politicians and is also well known to Juju. However, this left a bitter taste in the EFF and the CIC Julius Malema.
Malema embarked on defending himself and to give context on how the meeting came about, he also questioned Mkhwanazi’s motive in leaving out some of the details, especially the fact he is the one who asked for a meeting with him through Khan. Malema called Mkhwanazi, who is currently the country’s favourite personality a coward because he never mentioned any of this when he was present at the committee.
This sparked so much outrage, people came for Juju and the EFF, by just being mentioned, a number of people concluded that Malema is corrupt, and is defending himself, he is accused of being ungrateful and attacking a national treasure, why is he defending himself? While attending to the funeral of his aunt, some even accused him for being silent, saying it is clear sign of a guilty person.
Just a little comparison, Fadiel Adams was also mention by Gen. Mkhwanazi, he became very loud in critiquing the General and accusing him of all sorts of things and even went to the Adhoc Committee, of which I viewed as an attempt to intimidate Mkhwanazi. He said the General is wasting South African’s time.
Adams accused Mkhawanazi of hypocrisy, incompetence, of having no evidence of what he said and retracting most of what he said, if not all, he said Mkhwanazi is a good salesman selling a good story, but not a good General. That the General is a double standard man and that all of this is a joke.
These remarks were not met with the kind of aggression Malema is facing. There are many people who wish the CIC doom and accuse him at every turn they get. Being the most attacked and probably the most hated politician in the country, Juju had to clarify things, he also has the right to defend himself; however, whenever he tries to exercise his right, he is attacked by the public.
There are a number of instances where one can compare with, when other politicians do and say the same thing as Malema, the public remains silent, but should Malema venture a single word, he is wrong, he keeps his peace, he is wrong; it seems like Juju can’t get it right. One can only conclude that it all depends on who is saying it. It is not the subject matter at hand, it is who, not what.
