PORT ELIZABETH — In a direct challenge to the Union Buildings, Democratic Alliance (DA) Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis is set to spearhead what is anticipated to be the largest anti-crime march in the history of Nelson Mandela Bay. Scheduled for Friday, 10 July 2026, the demonstration underscores growing political and public frustration over South Africa’s escalating security crisis.
The march will culminate in a high-stakes national ultimatum delivered directly to President Cyril Ramaphosa, demanding immediate federal intervention. As violent crime continues to outpace localized policing efforts, the DA is positioning itself as the primary vehicle for public grievance, framing the current situation as a nationwide crisis of governance.
Demonstrators are scheduled to gather at 10:00 AM at the intersection of Aubrey Road and Amelia Street in Gelvan Park, Gqeberha.
