
PRETORIA — South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Parks Tau, has tested positive for COVID-19, the department announced in a media release on Wednesday.
According to the dtic, Minister Tau is currently in good spirits and has entered self-isolation in accordance with health protocols. In light of the diagnosis, the Minister has urged individuals who were recently in close contact with him to monitor for symptoms, get tested, and strictly exercise precautionary measures to prevent further transmission.
The department did not disclose whether the Minister is experiencing symptoms or if his official schedule will be managed remotely during his isolation period. Departmental operations are expected to continue uninterrupted under the guiding principles of public safety and service delivery
