Uncertainty continues to rein in uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) as it announces, once again, changes within its structures and parliamentary representatives.
The MKP has on Monday, 12 January 2026, announced that it has removed Comrade Colleen Makhubele as its Chief Whip in parliament with immediate effect, without giving any explanation for the move; the party thanked her and replaced her with Comrade Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi, who is currently the Chief Whip of the NCOP.
The MKP says Mokoena-Zondi will play a caretaker role for the purposes of interfacing with the office of the Speaker and preside over internal governance within caucus.
The party further announced more changes to its internal structures, they include the removal of Mpiyakhe Limba as the Treasure General with immediate effect; he will be replaced by Brain Molefe. The MKP also announced the upliftment of Vanessa Calvert’s suspension and her immediate reinstatement as Chief of Staff in the parliamentary caucus.
“The uMkhonto weSizwe Party remains committed to organisational discipline, collective leadership and strengthening of its structures in pursuit of the aspirations of the people of South Africa,” said the Spokesperson of the MKP Nhlamulo Ndlela.
