The Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro in the Free State Cllr Gregory Nthatisi has added his voice to the on-going saga of the United States of America (USA) imposing itself on sovereign states.
Nthatisi said during the celebration ceremony of Waaihoek Wesleyan Mission Church in Bloemfontein on Thursday, 8 January 2026, that the City stands with everyone else across the globe who is still being harassed by imperial forces led by the American forces.
The Executive Mayor also threw his weight and that of the municipality behind the country’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, who stood up against the bullying of the US. He said Ramaphosa demonstrated that South Africa is not a walk in the park.
“Imperialism is one element we must detest, our government at national level will stand firm to oppose any form of undermining the sovereignty of any country including ours. But as we stand by the people of this country, we shall have to support our government in its endeavour to ensure that the people of the world cannot be subjected to one power imposing itself as the United States suggesting that they can dominate the world as they wish.
We therefore stand with all the people of the world that are still being harassed by imperial forces led by the American forces to undermine the sovereignty of other countries. We are saying that, with straight faces, our government you are on point and we will stand behind you. The President of this country has demonstrated that South Africa cannot be just a walk in the park,” said the Executive Mayor Cllr Gregory Nthatisi.
Nthatisi said he is not promoting war, however, should the clarion call come, they will stand with the people of the world that are still being harassed by imperial forces who want to make people’s lives a living hell.
