South Africans in Middle East urged to contact Embassies

The South African government is urging its citizens in the Middle East to contact their respective Embassies to ensure that their whereabouts are known following the outbreak of a war in the region.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in South Africa cautions that the country’s assistance may be limited in the affected countries due to military aggression currently taking place in the Middle East. DIRCO says it can be assumed that no face-to-face consular assistance will be possible in an emergency.

Citizens are urged to contact their respective Embassies accredited to their countries of residence to ensure that they are registered with and that their whereabouts are known.
