In just less than three months of joining the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), Mr Floyd Shivambu has ascended the echelons of the party as Secretary General.
Shivambu takes over the reins after Dr Sifiso Maseko resigned as SG of MKP last week. In a swift move, the President of MKP Mr Jacob Zuma after consulting appointed the new arrival from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Floyd Shivambu as the party’s new Secretary General.
It is reported that Maseko will be returning to his former full-time position as Director of Infrastructure at the Gauteng Health Department. He was allegedly suspended in 2022 with full pay following an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit on irregular procurement of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shivambu has since committed to serving the party, the people of South Africa, the African continent and the African diaspora with honesty, hard work and respect. He has welcomed his appointment as SG and ready to hit the ground running.
Shivambu also made mention that he is looking forward to the unification of all progressive forces, the anti-imperialist, anti-racist formation under one umbrella to fight for a common purpose.
