Mamelodi Sundowns is through to the finals of the Carling Black Label Cup after beating the Bloemfontein based Marumo Gallants FC 2-0 on home soil at Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
From the first kick of the ball, Masandawana searched for an early goal, they put pressure on Morumo Gallants but were denied that advantage. Gallants pushed back and created a few opportunities for themselves but were unable to convert.
The Brazilians were more confident on the ball making threating scoring opportunities, but Marumo Gallants were up for the task, the game was a back and forth in the first half and neither teams could get an opener.
The teams went to break with a goalless draw.
In the second half, Sundowns came back strong and pushed harder on Marumo Gallants and were reward with a penalty. Lucas Ribeiro converted the penalty into cool goal on the 53rd minute. Marumo tried to equalise but the Brazilians were intent on maintaining their lead on a clean sheet.
Neo Maema Maema extended Masandawana’s lead on the 94th minute securing their progression to the finals.
Mamelodi Sundowns won the 2-0.
