The tragic spate of violence has sent shockwaves through local communities, instilling a profound sense of fear and uncertainty, particularly among women. Acknowledging the mounting anxiety, President Ramaphosa extended his deepest condolences to the grieving families and communities, emphasizing that the government shares the anguish of all South Africans.
“These incidents are causing fear and uncertainty in our communities, and especially among women,” Ramaphosa stated. “As a nation, we must stand up for the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls.”
In response to the crisis, the President confirmed he has directly engaged with the Minister of Police and the Acting National Police Commissioner. High-level briefings have been conducted, and strict directives have been issued to prioritize the investigation to swiftly apprehend and prosecute those responsible.
While state security forces work urgently to establish the facts and secure the area, authorities are heavily reliant on public cooperation. The government has issued an urgent appeal to citizens to come forward with any critical intelligence that could help halt the bloodshed and deliver justice to the victims’ families.
