By JOHANNESBURG — Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile has issued a strong condemnation following the recent, horrific murders of women in Kempton Park and surrounding areas on the East Rand.
Speaking in his capacity as Chairperson of the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster Cabinet Committee, Mashatile voiced profound outrage over the targeted violence that has shaken local communities.
Echoing the sentiments of President Cyril Ramaphosa, Mashatile extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and loved ones of the victims. He also expressed national solidarity with the residents of Kempton Park and communities across South Africa grappling with the devastating news.
“Gender-based violence (GBV) has no place in our communities,” Mashatile stated, calling for a united front against the scourge. He emphasized that men must take a leading role in both condemning such violence and actively safeguarding women.
In response to the killings, the Deputy President has pressed law enforcement authorities to intensify their investigations. He urged police to work hand-in-hand with key stakeholders and local communities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and brought to book.
