The ANC has taken another knock in court as the Electoral Court in Johannesburg found that there was nothing wrong with the registration of MK party as registered by the Deputy CEO of Electoral Operations and dismissed the ANC’s application for MK not to use the symbols and intellectual property of the ANC.
The Court further found that the ANC delayed in its application to oppose the registration of MK, and the reasons it gave were irrational. Furthermore, it found that MK’s registration complied with all the provisions within the prescribed laws to register a party; however, the ANC’s bid to get MK party to be deregistered is not within the law as there is no provision for such.
The application was dismissed with no order as to costs.
