Eskom has confirmed that Nketoana Local Municipality in the Free State has submitted a Council resolution that indicates that they want to enter the Distribution Agency Agreement (DAA).
According to Stefanie Jansen Van Rensburg, the Industry Support and Stakeholder Management for Eskom in the Free State, Eskom has received a Council Resolution from Nketoana Local Municipality, indicating that they wish to enter into a Distribution Agency Agreement (DAA) with Eskom. The Council Resolution was taken on 09 April 2026. Due to an administrative error the Resolution only reached Eskom today.
“The interruption of the bulk electricity supply which was to commence on 08 May 2026 has therefore been suspended, subject to the Municipality paying their current account while the parties finalise the DAA.
The notice to interrupt supply, published in the Journal News on 24 April and in the Vrystaat Kroon on 29 April, is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect following the receipt of the Council Resolution,” said Jansen Van Rensburg.
