By The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Free State province has expressed its condolences to the loved ones of the family that lost their lives in a horror accident on Saturday, 3 January 2026, on the R26 road at the Fouriesburg and Mashaeng crossing.
The DA Leader in the province Dr Roy Jankielsohn further conveyed the party’s condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones over the festive season, and extended his gratitude towards emergency services.
“We also wish the 19 individuals who were hospitalised full recoveries.
The DA expresses our gratitude to the emergency services in the Free State who were on stand-by to assist the many road users over the festive season, from law enforcement to medical services. The province owes a debt of gratitude to the many people who remain on duty while others are enjoying various festivities.
As the festive season draws to an end, we would like to request motorists who are travelling through the Free State to be patient, rest regularly and adhere to road rules, especially speed limits,” said Jankielsohn.
