
Club fans of both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates were entertained with thrilling football during the clash of the giants in Soweto, at Orlando Stadium. The match could have ended with much higher sore than just two goals in the game.
Sundowns kicked-off the match; they were not intimidated by the fact that they are playing an away game at the home of the Buccaneers with their large supporters. Ka bo yello showed their intentions to win the game already in the 6th minute with a threatening chance.
Masandawana kept on knocking at the goal post making brilliant runs breaking the defence line of the Sea Robbers and they were finally rewarded when Mokoena scored the opener on the 36th minute.
Sundowns sought to extend their lead, but ran out of time. The referee blew his whistle and the first half ended with Sundowns leading 1-0.
In the second half, Pirates also wanted to register their name on the score sheet, they pushed back from the pressure from Sundowns, both teams were determined to win the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals. Orlando Pirates kept on taking chances and missed a few, even hit the bar.
From a brilliant long pass, Sebelebele made a run at Williams and beating him, he levelled the ground for his team with the equaliser on the 87th minute. The Sea Robbers pressed to extend their lead but it was not meant to be.
The game ended 1-1.
