By The leaked findings of the African National Congress (ANC) National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) show that, in a unanimous conclusion, the NDC has found the Former President Mr Jacob Zuma guilty and has expelled him.
In December 2023, the former President of South Africa and that of the ANC Jacob Zuma announced that he will be endorsing and voting for the newly formed party uMkhonto weSizwe.
Following the shocking revelation, the ANC was faced with a challenge of disciplining and expelling him during the campaigning season leading up to the provincial and national elections.
However, their move needed to be calculated lest they earn Zuma sympathy votes and break the ANC into two as he enjoys a lot of support within the party.
Jacob Zuma later revealed that he is the founder and leader of MK Party. Though the Secretary General of the ANC Cde. Fikila Mbalula told the media that Zuma is no longer a member of the ANC; on the contrary, Jacob Zuma claimed to be still a member of the liberation party and will die a member.
Zuma, during his campaigns, said the main aim of MK’s existence was to win a two thirds majority in the 2024 elections and then take back the ANC from President Cyril Ramaphosa and expel all the bad apples within the party.
However, the leaked document of the NDC, shows that the committee found Jacob Zuma guilty of contravening Rule 25.17.17.4 of the ANC Constitution, the clause was read together with subsection 2; for prejudicing the integrity or repute of the ANC and collaborating with a registered political party which is not in alliance with the ANC contrary to the party’s aims, policies and objectives.
“The charged member is expelled from the ANC,” read the NDC finding.
The NDC further said Zuma has 21 days to appeal the matter to the National Disciplinary Committee.
