By Kaizer Chiefs have officially parted ways with midfielder Thabo Cele by mutual agreement, ending his 18-month tenure with the Soweto giants as the club reshapes its squad for the 2026/27 season.
The decision follows constructive discussions between Amakhosi management and the player, freeing the KwaMashu-born midfielder to seek new opportunities elsewhere.
Cele joined the Glamour Boys in January 2025, bringing valuable international pedigree after spending several years playing in Europe alongside his caps for the South African national team. He quickly made an impression, making his official club debut in the high-stakes Soweto Derby just a month after signing.
During his brief spell at Naturena, Cele made 36 appearances across domestic and CAF competitions. The highlight of his stint arrived just four months into his stay, when he helped Kaizer Chiefs lift the Nedbank Cup trophy.
Affectionately nicknamed “Induna Yendawo,” the midfielder leaves with the club’s full support and gratitude for his dedication during a transformative period for the team. Kaizer Chiefs publicly thanked Cele for his commitment and wished him success in the next chapter of his career.
