The Rise Mzansi Leader Songezo Zibi says it would be stupid to have Starlink in South Africa, owned by Elon Musk, a white supremacist who has declared himself an enemy of South Africa’s constitutional order.
Recently, Elon Musk during an interview expressed frustration with South Africa, he said he was born in the country and yet could not obtain a license for his internet company, mainly because he is not black. He said the country has racist laws that discriminate against people who are not of colour.
Zibi who is opposed to having Starlink in the country, said Musk through his actions has declared himself an enemy of the country’s constitutional order, he said Musk is an enemy of social justice, of redress, of addressing racial and social inequality in South Africa.
Zibi said Musk uses misinformation and disinformation in order to spread lies in the United States of America that are damaging to South Africa, including the lie of white genocide.
“That person cannot want to invest in South Africa and claim himself to be similar to other investors who want to invest in South Africa, and because money is involved we must then accept whatever kind of person who wants to invest here. We’ve got to have principles, we’ve got to have standards and we must draw the line at our constitutional order,” said Songezo Zibi.
The Rise Mzansi Leader said he is of the opinion not to grant Musk such a platform because through his platforms, he has spread lies, misinformation and disinformation. According to Zibi, South Africa is not the only casualty of Elon Musk, but he caused division in other parts of the world; he described Musk as a white supremacist who has declared himself an enemy of South Africa’s constitutional order.
“Giving him a technological echo-system where he’s got access to the platform and he’s got an internet company so that he can use that infrastructure against the constitutional order and national stability; it would be stupid to do that and I honestly don’t know what Minister Solly Malatsi was thinking, when as a minister who sits in cabinet where they purportedly receive security briefings, they wouldn’t think that these are issues that must be considered.
It would be dangerous to have Elon Musk own an echo-technological echo-system in South Africa when we can see what damage has been done in other parts of the world, and Elon Musk has declared himself an enemy of South Africa’s constitutional order. We can’t be naïve, the fight must be on this year, no Starlink in South Africa, not when it is owned by Elon Musk,” said Sengezo Zibi.
