ROCESTER, England — Lucas Herbert put on a clinic of absolute dominance at JCB Golf & Country Club, closing out a historic wire-to-wire victory with a blistering 10-under 62 on Sunday to capture the LIV Golf United Kingdom title.
Herbert completed the most dominant four-day stretch in LIV Golf history, finishing at an unprecedented 30 under par. The mark shatters the previous league scoring record of 26 under—set earlier this year in South Africa by Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm—to solidify his second wire-to-wire title of the 2026 season.
The 30-year-old Australian was practically untouchable from the opening tee shot, setting tournament and course records with a first-round 61. Over the course of four rounds, he notched a league-record 30 birdies and 32 total combination of birdies and eagles, capping off his final round without a single bogey on his scorecard.
“It was nice to be me this week,” a glowing Herbert said following his final birdie putt on Sunday.
A Masterclass Under Pressure
Despite tricky wind conditions during Sunday’s final round, Herbert never wilted under the heavy pursuit of his high-profile chasers. England’s Tyrrell Hatton applied relentless early pressure in front of his home crowd, opening his round 6 under on the front nine and firing a bogey-free 9-under 63. However, Hatton still lost a stroke to the runaway leader, finishing six shots back in solo second at 24 under.
“It’s crazy,” Hatton admitted. “I needed to get off to a fast start… Unfortunately for myself, Lucas played incredible golf. He’s been unbelievable all week. He’s a good frontrunner and he proved that today by making it impossible for everyone trying to chase him down.”
Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau, who played alongside Herbert for the final three rounds, posted a steady 68 to finish solo third at 21 under.
“It felt like he was just invincible,” DeChambeau remarked. “Every time we thought we had a chance, he just made a putt or hit a shot in there close. That’s some stellar golf.”
The pivotal moment arrived on the par-4 8th hole when Herbert sank a critical 18-foot par save to hold off Hatton’s charge. He then slammed the door shut on the field with four consecutive birdies on holes 11 through 14.
Double Glory for Ripper GC
Herbert’s individual masterpiece powered Ripper GC to a dominant team victory as well. The all-Australian quartet captured the team title at 52 under par, finishing four strokes clear of Legion XIII (-48) and ten strokes ahead of Crushers GC (-42).
Herbert personally generated 58% of the team’s winning score, while captain Cameron Smith added a fourth-place individual finish (-17) to complete the team sweep. It marks the third team trophy of the season for the Rippers.
“Incredible,” Smith said of Herbert’s performance. “To beat the field that we’ve got by six shots, have a 61 and a 62 in the same week with the conditions we were playing in, is pretty crazy. When Herby gets on a roll like he did this week, it’s awesome to watch.”
The win also marked a unique milestone for reserve player Travis Smyth, who filled in for the injured Elvis Smylie this week. Having previously stepped in for Crushers GC during their victory at LIV Golf Korea two months ago, Smyth became the first player in LIV Golf history to win team titles with two different squads in a single season.
Surging Up the World Rankings
Herbert’s historic week builds upon a meteoric rise. After entering May 2025 ranked 324th in the Official World Golf Ranking, Herbert won the International Series Japan and went on to claim LIV Golf Virginia in May 2026, vaulting into the top 100. Fresh off a T6 finish at last week’s Open Championship—where he tied a men’s major record with a single-round 62—Herbert arrived at JCB ranked 69th and is set to surge even higher.
“After the last couple of weeks, it’s hard to say he’s not inside the top 5, 10 in the world,” Smith added. “He’s just so confident at the moment… You can see when someone is in that zone – and he’s in that zone.”
Though Herbert’s win moves him to third in the season-long Individual Championship standings with 531.23 points, the ultimate title remains a two-man race heading into next month’s LIV Golf New York. Jon Rahm continues to lead the season race with 938.44 points despite a T23 finish in England, while DeChambeau sits second at 719.40 points after trimming Rahm’s lead down to 219.04 points.
