Sundowns scoop six awards

Mamelodi Sundowns had a good season and were rewarded for their stellar performance with six awards at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards ceremony held on Sunday night, 23 June 2024.

Masandawna boast 14 trophies and have won the league seven consecutive times and were unbeaten in 29 league games. The Brazilians were unstoppable and played world class football and continue to shine even off the field.

To match their outstanding performance during the season, they dominated the awards ceremony like rock stars collecting award after award. Four members of the team including Coach Rulani Mokwena scooped the prestigious awards on that night.

Coach Rulani scooped the Coach of the Season award, while the sensational keeper Ronwen Williams, who also plays for the national senior team Bafana Bafana; was awarded with the Goalkeeper of the Season and Footballer of the Season accolades.

Williams is now the third goalkeeper in the history of the PSL to win the PSL Footballer of the Season. His name is now permanently engraved in the books of champions.

Grant Kekana scooped the Defender of the Season award, while Diski Team midfielder and captain, Ntando Nkosi received the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season.

Players from other teams also scooped awards including Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC, JDR Stars from Motsepe Foundation, and Super Sport United. It remains to be a dry season for Kaizer Chiefs.
