Bafana Bafana thrash Zimbabwe 3-1

Bafana Bafana delivered a world class football match in front of a full to capacity stadium playing against neighbouring Zimbabwe. The thrilling match saw two goals being scored in less than two minutes of start time.

South Africa was intend on winning the game, and so was Zimbabwe which resulted in high paced 2026 World Cup Qualifier match at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday night. Fans descended in numbers to the stadium in support of Bafana Bafana, and the men’s national senior team did not disappoint.

Zimbabwe’s defence made a mistake facing their goals, and Iqraam Rayners was there to pick up the loose ball and scored the opener of the match in the first minute of the game. However, Zimbabwe swiftly responded with Tawanda Chirewa levelling the ground in the second minute.

Both teams search for a goal to put them in the lead, but it was not meant to be. The teams went to break with a one all draw.

In the second half; the teams played as if they could see the world cup tournament well in sight; they searched for a leader and Bafana Bafana was rewarded when super sup Thapelo Mokoena scored the second goal for Bafana Bafana on the 55th minute. Mokoena was not done yet; he returned to score his second goal on the 76th minute, putting the game beyond the opponents and sealed a win for South Africa.

Bafana Bafana won the game 3-1 and they are now second on the FIFA World Cup Qualifier group C after Rwanda. They both have seven points but due to goal difference, South Africa is second.
