Bafana Bafana are now left with two comfortable games already qualified for the 2025 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) after South Sudan crushed Congo’s dreams of the AFCON by 3-2 on Thursday, 14 November 2024.
Much weight has been lifted off the Head Coach of the South African senior men’s team Hugo Broos to qualify for the African tournament. Broos acknowledged that beating Uganda on home soil will be a daunting task but however expressed confidence on his foot soldiers.
The Coach has made double history by qualifying without entering the pitch and kicking the ball, also he is the first coach to have qualified for the AFCON for the second time in a row. Bafana Bafana will now just collect extra points to boost their confidence ahead of the 2025 AFCON.
South Sudan has put Congo at a disadvantage to progress and qualify for the AFCON, even if they win against Uganda in their last match next week Tuesday, they can only get to seven maximum points, a point less than South Africa currently.
Bafana Bafana will this afternoon go up against Uganda in an away game at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Friday, 15 November 2024, at 3pm South African time and on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, against South Sudan at Cape Town Stadium 6pm on home ground.
Broos is now relieved as there would be no need for him to disappear into eternity as he vowed should he fail to qualify for the AFCON.
