SANTANDER — Real Madrid’s relentless momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Kicking off the month of November in style, José Mourinho’s side secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Racing at El Sardinero, notching their sixth consecutive win across all competitions.
Displaying superior collective work and tactical control from the opening whistle, Los Blancos put the match out of reach in a scintillating first-half display powered by Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and a spectacular volley from Yan Diomande.
Early Pressure Pays Off
Madrid seized the initiative right from the start, suffocating the hosts with high-intensity pressing and fluid ball movement. Turkish playmaker Arda Güler signaled his intent early, coming agonizingly close in the seventh minute with a delicate first-touch effort from a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass that grazed the post.
The breakthrough arrived just moments later. In the 10th minute, Güler picked out Bellingham with a pinpoint cross, whose header was acrobatically cleared off the line by the Racing goalkeeper.
Immediately following the scramble, Prati brought down Mbappé inside the area. The French star stepped up and coolly slotted home the resulting penalty in the 11th minute to break the deadlock and make it 0-1.
Racing sought an immediate response, and Iker Luque came within inches of equalizing when he collected a loose ball at the edge of the box, forcing Thibaut Courtois into a sharp, reflexive save.
Bellingham and Diomande Deliver Master-class
Any hopes of a Racing resurgence were swiftly extinguished as Madrid turned up the screw. In the 21st minute, Güler unlocked the defence once more with a magnificent defence-splitting pass. Bellingham raced clear from the midfield, coolly rounded goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala, and walked the ball into the net to double the advantage.
Not to be outdone, Yan Diomande added his own candidate for goal of the season in the 36th minute. Echoing his heroics against Leipzig, Diomande pounced on a cleared corner at the edge of the area and unleashed an unstoppable, venomous right-footed volley that rocketed into the top corner, leaving Agirrezabala with zero chance.
Armed with a comfortable 0-3 cushion, Madrid continued to probe, creating several more openings before the halftime whistle concluded a master-class of a first half.
Managing the Second Half
The second half saw a more proactive Racing side push forward in search of a lifeline, registering a greater offensive presence without truly testing Courtois.
As spaces opened up on the counter, Madrid sought to extend their margin. Mbappé came agonizingly close around the hour mark, rattling the post with a ferocious long-range strike before firing his follow-up just over the crossbar. Bellingham also tested Agirrezabala from a tight angle following another clever setup by Güler.
Controversy struck in the 71st minute when referee Munuera Montero initially pointed to the spot for a handball against Aurélien Tchouameni following a challenge with Prati. However, following a VAR review at the pitchside monitor, the decision was rightly overturned after it was established that the contact was completely unintentional as Tchouameni attempted to play the ball.
Racing kept fighting until the final whistle, and Bellingham thought he had added a fourth in stoppage time, only for the effort to be correctly chalked off for offside.
When the final whistle blew, it sealed a thoroughly professional, well-deserved three points for Mourinho’s men, cementing their status as the team to beat as the autumn fixtures intensify.
