PRETORIA — President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially extended the deadline for the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System, ensuring the panel can fully execute its mandate.
The Commission is now scheduled to submit its final report on Monday, 16 November 2026, shifting from the originally anticipated date of 31 August 2026. Under the newly granted timeline, the final deadline for presenting evidence is set for Friday, 2 October 2026, with the final reporting deadline following in mid-November.
According to the Presidency, the extension is vital for the Commission to thoroughly close off complex topics initiated during hearings to date. Crucially, the additional time allows the inquiry to hear comprehensive evidence on all matters listed within its extensive terms of reference. Officials warned that without this extension, large and critical portions of the Commission’s investigative work would have been left unfinished.
President Ramaphosa reiterated his deep appreciation for the ongoing work conducted by the Commission. He also commended law enforcement agencies for their proactive approach in following up on the critical testimony emerging from the hearings.
