President Cyril Ramaphosa has accepted the immediate resignation of Advocate Andrea Johnson, head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
The decision, made under section 12(8)(a) of the National Prosecuting Authority Act of 1998, follows Adv Johnson’s formal request to vacate her post without delay. The request was submitted directly to both President Ramaphosa and National Director of Public Prosecutions Adv Andy Mothibi.
The President’s approval comes on the back of a recommendation by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi, which received full support from Adv Mothibi.
Thanking Adv Johnson for her tenure within the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and her leadership at IDAC, President Ramaphosa extended his gratitude for her service. Addressing broader concerns surrounding the prosecutorial body’s stability following the high-profile departure, the President assured NPA leadership and staff of the government’s continued, unwavering support in its ongoing crusade against crime and corruption.
