President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off from public engagements on the advice of his medical team due to ill health.
The Presidency confirmed the news, noting that the Head of State returned from the BRICS Summit in India on Monday before falling ill. Medical advisors have strongly recommended a period of rest and recovery for the President.
Despite taking a step back from physical appearances, Ramaphosa intends to maintain administrative continuity where possible. He has delegated respective ministers to represent him at upcoming scheduled public engagements in his absence.
Further updates regarding the President’s health and schedule will be provided by the Presidency in due course.
