Political parties face fine in Mangaung

Leading up to the national and provincial elections on 29 May 2024; political parties and the Electoral Commission (IEC) placed posters across Mangaung Metro as part of their campaign strategy to woe the electorate; the metro is calling on all the parties and the IEC to remove the posters.

According to the City, political parties, the IEC and independent candidates must remove their advertisement posters and banners within 14 days after the date of elections as prescribed in the municipality’s outdoor advertisement by-laws in Schedule 8 and 11, Section 12.

Failure to remove the advertisement material, the affected parties will face a fine of R311 per poster and or R281 per banner or flag. The municipality has also warned of legal action should the parties fail to comply.
