It was a hero’s welcome, a jubilant moment for Bafana Bafana fans who have been waiting for the arrival of the national men’s senior team form Nigeria on Saturday afternoon.
Live performers, fans and including the super fans Botha and Mama Joy were also present at Bram Fisher International Airport in Bloemfontein to welcome Bafana Bafana ahead of their clash with Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier.
The Free State Province Premier Mr Mxolisi Dukwana, flanked by the Acting MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation Mr Makalo Mohale and the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro Cllr Gregory Nthatisi were also part of the masses at the airport who were excited to host Bafana Bafana.
The national team landed with SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan and Coach Hugo Broos leading the team that played exceptionally well against their arch rivals.
Bafana Bafana played a one all draw with Nigeria during their World Cup Qualifier match on Friday in an away match in Nigeria. South Africa opened the score line on the 29th minute of the game, but Nigeria came back with an equalizer in the second half.
Bafana Bafana will go up against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, 11 June 2024, at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. The game is set to kick off at 18: 00. Tickets are now available for the match at the match venue.
