By Kaizer Chiefs fans will once again this week go through the walk of shame as they lost the derby to long-time arch Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys were the first to score in the highly entertaining match at the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, 9 March 2024. Determined to win the derby, Ashley Du Preez scored an early goal on the 6th minute giving Amakhosi the lead.
The Sea Robbers also made their presence felt on the pitch, it was a traffic jam as both teams ran at each other; speed; technic and determination filled the air. Orlando Pirate found their equalizer on 24th minute through Monnapule Saleng.
However, Chiefs did not settle for level ground, Du Preez with a half-time smash and grab extended the lead on the 44th minute and Kaizer Chiefs went to breaking leading 2-1.
In the second half, the Sea Robbers took the game to the Glamour Boys, they pressed at them until it paid off with Thabiso Lebitso levelling the score from just outside the box on the 58th minute. Kaizer Chiefs was now chasing the ball and Saleng sealed the match with a brilliant loop on the 68th minute.
Orlando Pirates won the game 3-2.
