Pirates smash and grab win

Chippa United came into the game against Orlando Pirates last night in Soweto at Orlando Stadium confident with clear intention to win the game; however, with extended time in both the first and second half, the Sea Robbers were able to steal the game.

Chippa United was confident on the ball, passing it around and making runs, they were threatening and kept on taking chances until Andile Jali, a former Orlando Pirates player opened the score card on the 22nd minute just outside the box with a brilliant on target strike.

Orlando Pirates tried to respond immediately but were denied, the match came alive as the teams went blow for blow until the Buccaneers were awarded a penalty and Tshegofatso Mabasa converted on 45+4.

The game went to break with a one all draw.

In the second half, it was a tense traffic jam as both teams were searching for a winner; the goalkeepers had to work hard in keeping their teams afloat. Both teams had scoring opportunities but denied by either the keeper or the upright.

The Referee added time and this is just what the Sea Robbers needed to steal the game. From a cross into the box, Monnapule Saleng with a header scored the winner for Pirates on 90+1 securing a smash and grab win for his team.

The game ended with Orlando Pirates leading Chippa United with 2-1.

Orlando Pirates is currently forth on the log, while Chippa United in number 11.
