Mangaung to host Carling final

The final clash for the coveted Carling Black Label Cup between Mamelodi Sundowns and Magesi FC will be hosting in Mangaung this weekend.

For the first time in 10 years, the City of Roses will host a final match. Bloemfontein is known for its love for sports and for its huge show of support that fills up stadiums.

“It is such a great honour for the City to host the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup final on Saturday, we haven’t hasted a final match in more than 10 years. The people of Mangaung will benefit with the presence of Marumo Gallants,” said the City Manager Sello More.

Magesi, in its first season in the PSL has surprised many by reaching the finals of the Carling Black Label Cup to face the Brazilians. Magesi first knocked out Soweto giants Orlando Pirates in the first round, and continued its massacre on TS Galaxy FC and Richards Bay FC to reach the finals.

Mamelodi Sundowns will go into the match seeking a high score win, but Magesi has shown itself a tough opponent not to be taken for granted and will also want to lift the cup at the end of the game. Though the Brazilians win games, they need to be careful of the hungry new comers into the mainstream football as they may continue surprising the nation by winning the cup.

The match will kick off at 18: 00 on Saturday, 23 November 2024, at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
