Tourism is one of the key pillars of local economy in the Free State that has great potential to grow and create the much need jobs in the sector. As part of growing the sector, the MEC Ketso Makume will today Friday, 11 October 2024, meet with Drinks Federation of South Africa (DF-SA), Free State Liquor Traders Association and Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority (FSGLTA).
Through this session, MEC Makume seeks to engage with the local municipalities meeting with key role players of the economy to identify areas of opportunities and possible solutions as well as establishing interventions to attract investments; to combat the harmful effects of alcohol, promote responsible drinking behaviours and to solicit investments to create job opportunities and grow the economy.
MEC Ketso Makume emphasized that; his department is in a mode to assist SMMEs with necessary business skills to consider new viable businesses, which will serve as an economic value chain amongst themselves, encouraging municipalities to enforce by-laws, especially towards traders of illicit goods and identify tourism opportunities, as Free State is a go to and not go through Province.
Makume will meet with the authorities at Fezile Dabi district Municipal Offices, in Sasolburg.
