Kaizer Chiefs have officially called time on Gaston “Papi” Sirino’s tenure at Naturena, releasing a heartfelt statement to bid farewell to the veteran Uruguayan playmaker after two seasons with the Soweto giants.
The 35-year-old’s contract expired at the end of June 2026, and despite discussions, both parties failed to reach an agreement on fresh terms. Now a free agent, Sirino departs the Glamour Boys after a highly influential spell where his leadership on and off the pitch left a lasting impression on the club’s younger core.
During his two-year stint with Amakhosi, the veteran midfielder made 39 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net five times and registering eight assists. Sirino’s ultimate highlight in the famous gold and black jersey came last year, when his elite experience and big-game temperament guided the squad to a prestigious Nedbank Cup triumph.
In their official farewell, Kaizer Chiefs expressed deep gratitude for his unwavering professionalism and commitment:

While his chapter in Johannesburg closes, Sirino’s time in South African football is far from over. Highly reliable reports suggest the playmaker is closing in on a move to Durban City, where he is set to reunite with former Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef.
