DESTEA reopens online applications for MSMEs support incentives

Entrepreneurs in the Free State province will once again get an opportunity to apply for funding incentives as the Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism (DESTEA) re-opens the online application period for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and Cooperatives.

The department recently published the opening of the online funding incentive application which closed on 21 July 2025, however, the demand for funding is a lot and the department said it does not want to leave anyone behind.

The Spokesperson for DESTEA Mr Mojalefa Mphapang says; due to the demand and prioritizing government commitment to leave NO one behind, the Free State MEC for Finance, Economic Development, and Tourism, Mr Ketso Makume has extended the online applications in a form of the second phase for funding incentives from 11 September to 21 September 2025.

“The reopening of online incentive applications by 10 days is informed by a need to provide financial and non-financial support for the Free State businesses to remain sustainable and acquire production equipment and machinery to create much needed jobs,” said Mphapang.

N.B. Online applications can ONLY be done on laptops and desktop computers. Mobile, smartphones, and tablets are not supported.

“Users who registered during the previous funding window period can use their existing credentials to log into the application system. If a user has applied for a specific application in the previous funding phase, the user may not apply for the same incentive again because the system will automatically reject a duplicate application.

Users are encouraged to ensure that their enterprise registration forms are completed BEFORE attempting to create an application. Furthermore, if a user’s enterprise has already been registered, it can be linked by using the ID number,” explained Mojalefa Mphapang.

Users are urged to select the correct incentive, check the qualifying criteria, and prepare the required documents before applying.

Users should refrain from applying for multiple incentives.
