Cape Town Spurs relegated

Cape Town Spurs had to drink the bitter cup of relegation from the DSTV Premiership on Saturday night after Soweto giants Orlando Pirates lost to Richard Bay 1-0 on home ground at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The Sea Robbers have been on a winning streak and Richards Bay ranking 15th on the log seemed an easy meal for the Buccaneers; but much to the surprise of many, the odds were turned and Goliath went down to David’s victory.

The team watched the game with their fingers crossed, but Richards Bay extended their points from 24 to 27 sealing Spurs’ fate to relegation. Spurs’ run in the DSTV PSL has come to an end after one season, they return to First Division.

Cape Town Spurs played a goalless draw with SuperSport United on Friday, 10 May 2024 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The one point did not make any much difference as Richards Bay opened an eight point gap with their win against Pirates.

Cape Town Spurs sits at the bottom of the log with just 19 points.
