As expected, it was a totally different game compared to the one where Bafana Bafana threshed Congo 5-0, instead, South Africa had to dig deep to even get a goal.
South Africa kicked of the match facing the Congo Brazzaville who was looking for vengeance and a chance to go through to the AFCON tournament. Bafana Bafana needed a win to secure their qualification but they have to play another match and win for them to go through.
In the first half, both teams showed determination to win the game, however, Bafana Bafana were more dominant creating chances, of which they missed a few but were finally rewarded on 33rd minute when Elias Mokwana raced past the Congolese defence and slotted a goal for Bafana Bafana.
Congo was not about to give up, they needed to redeem themselves and could not afford another beating from South Africa, they pushed back and moments later found the net, but they were denied, it was an offsite, but that did not deter them, Mons Bassouamina scored the equaliser on the 45th minute.
The teams went to break with a one all draw.
In the second half, the two countries had a run at each other, creating threatening opportunities in search of a leader, but were both unfortunate. The referee blew the final whistle and they had to share the spoils.
