Battle lines have been drawn, it is going to be brutal, entertaining, a thriller and an opportune time to finally bury the hatchet.
Once again, it’s ‘Pitori’ (Pretoria) vs Soweto, who will emerge the victor this time around? Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will be battling it out this Saturday, 2 November 2024, at the FNB Stadium at the Carling quarter final knock-out stages.
Both teams will be going into the match confident, the Brazilians got a huge confidence booster when they beat Cape Town City 3-0, collecting all three points. The team at some point seemed to have lost its rhythm, but after their huge win, they said they are back on their winning streak.
Some fans have expressed concern about Bafana ba style following the departure of the former Head Coach Rhulani Mokwena, saying Sundowns is no longer the same. But its latest performance seems to restore some confidence into its fans.
Kaizer Chiefs on the other hand, is a totally different team hungry for a win and for trophies following a long period of draught at Naturena village. The quality of play has improved drastically and it shows that the Glomar Boys are out for a win.
They will also go into the match confident as they managed to come back from a 2-0 deficit against Magesi FC and equalised with two gorgeous goals. They could have scored more goals but missed, however, the one point was enough to give them confidence to go up against the now former ‘land lords’ of the PSL log.
In their last encounter, there was huge noise debating that the referee favoured the Brazilians; he gave them a goal that was a penalty, and denied Amakhosi a legitimate goal. It was argued that Chiefs could have won the game or at least it should have been a draw.
This game will settle all of that, who is the better team between the two. Is it seven up, or peace? The match will kick off at 18: 00.
