As grade 12 learners kicked off their exams on Monday, 21 October 2024, all eyes are on the Free State as it has been a champion for consecutive years, last year the province led the country achieving 88.5% pass rate.
The Free State Premier Ms MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae took time to visit grade 12 learners at Grassland Secondary School in Bloemfontein, before they kicked off their English first paper. The Premier interacted with the learners, hugging them, encouraging them to calm their nerves.
It is understandable for the learners to be a bit nervous as they have big shoes to fill by continuing being and defending their number one spot nationally.
“Be calm and do not feel under pressure. You have been prepared for this moment from the beginning of the year. What you are going to write is what you were taught since January, so there is nothing new about your examinations that you do not know.
Yours is to concentrate fully on your examinations and not allow external issues to distract you,” said Letsoha-Mathe to a responsive hall with 266 learners ready to tackle their first paper.
