Phahlo announced HOD of Human Settlement

The Free State Province Premier Ms MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae is intentional on making her government accessible and effective; she has given the government a facelift by reshuffling Heads of Departments.

Adv. Tumelo Phahlo, who was HOD for the Department of Social Development has been moved to the Department of Human Settlement. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge on governance. Phahlo served in a number of departments within the provincial government in various capacities.

The MEC for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements Mr Saki Mokoena welcomed adv. Tumelo Phahlo to the department and introduced him to all the personnel following the reshuffling by the Premier.

Mokoena encouraged his staff to support the new HOD by continuing to work hard and serve the people of the Free State. MEC Mokoena has since wished Adv. Phahlo well as he takes over his new role in the department.

Adv. Tumelo Phahlo brings on board his expertise that he gained over the years while serving at the Department of Community Safety and Transport. Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) and the department Social Development; amongst others.

The department of Human Settlement has come under fire over the years over housing projects that have stagnated and yet millions of rands have been spent, residents needing housing are still without proper decent housing. It has been reported that, the projects have exchanged hands between different contractors, but to date, the projects stand empty and uncompleted.

The introduction of Adv. Tumelo Phahlo as the new HOD shines a ray of hope in turning the situation around. According to Premier Letsoha-Mathae, her administration will focus on service delivery and ensuring that people have access to government and its services. The Premier has already hit the ground running and is making moves to ensure a better Free State.
