Following the passing of the Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature Hon David Mkhabela, which left a vacancy in legislature, the Speaker of Legislature Hon. Mxolisi Dukwana officially swore in Hon. Mamiki Mkhabela on Tuesday, 9 September 2025.
Mkhabela took her oath of office as prescribed by Section 107 of the Constitution before assuming her role as representative of African Congress for Transformation (ACT) party led by the former Free State Premier and African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Dr Ace Magashule, in legislature, in Bloemfontein. She will now assume her new role with immediate effect.
ACT party only has one seat in the Free State Legislature.
