Mikel Arteta Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Premier League Champion Christian Norgaard Following Everton Switch

Mikel Arteta has offered a glowing tribute to Christian Norgaard following the midfielder’s transfer to Everton, which was finalized shortly after Arsenal’s pre-season clash against Real Betis.

The 32-year-old Denmark international bids farewell to north London after a single, silverware-laden campaign that saw him make 20 appearances across all competitions and lift the Premier League title. Despite his limited tenure, Norgaard’s wealth of experience and tactical knowhow left a lasting mark on the squad, earning high praise from the Gunners’ manager.

“It’s a message of admiration, love, and I’m very thankful for what he brought to the club, how he helped us to win,” Arteta declared, highlighting the veteran’s crucial influence beyond the pitch.

“I think behind the scenes, we haven’t seen what he’s done, but I think he’s a player that has a unique quality to make others better, to maintain a culture to the highest standards,” Arteta added. “And then his contribution on the pitch when he played and had his minutes.”

While the club was reluctant to part ways with the midfielder, Arteta conceded that the move aligns with Norgaard’s personal ambitions at this point in his career.

“So it was difficult to let him go,” Arteta admitted. “I understand it’s a stage in his career that he needs to play and fulfil as well, all their dreams, but [we’re] forever thankful.”

Norgaard leaves the Emirates Stadium with his place in the club’s recent success firmly cemented, as he prepares to embark on a new chapter at Goodison Park.
