Members of the Free State Executive Council (MEC) were officially sworn into office by Judge President C. John Musi at the EXCO Chambers at OR Tambo building in Bloemfontein on Sunday, 23 June 2024.
The new provincial leaders raised their right hands as they took their oath of office pledging faithfulness in the execution of their duties. The Premier of the Free State province MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae expressed confidence in her team in that they are capable and diligent in delivering services to the people of the Free State.
Wasting no time; the MECs led by the Premier conducted unannounced hospital visits to inspect the conditions at public hospitals. They visited Pelonomi, National, Dr JS Moroka Hospital in Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo.
Premier Letsoha-Mathae expressed concern regarding infrastructure and cleanliness at some of the hospitals, while on the other hand commending some of the improvements made at the hospitals.
She however said the province will consult with law enforcement agencies to hold service providers accountable who received government contracts but failed to deliver or complete their projects or services. She committed in recovering every cent that was spent.
