MEC Mokoena to handover BNG houses

The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and Human Settlements, Mr. Saki Mokoena will today embark on a campaign to handover completed Breaking New Ground (BNG) houses to rightful beneficiaries.

These houses are in Namahadi – Frankfort, in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality. MEC Mokoena will also support the municipality with tools of trade for the Community Works Programme (CWP).

The housing initiative marks a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to providing sustainable and dignified housing solutions for communities. It is also aligned with government’s BNG policy, which aims to create sustainable human settlements and improve the living conditions of low-income households.

The BNG approach goes beyond merely providing houses, it seeks to develop communities with access to essential services such as water, electricity, and sanitation, thereby fostering inclusive and resilient urban environments. The housing projects are part of a broader effort by the department to address the critical shortage of affordable housing.

For many beneficiaries, the new homes represent not only a significant improvement in their living conditions but also a chance to break the cycle of poverty. The handover of these houses is a testament to government’s on-going efforts to efforts to uplift vulnerable populations by providing them with a stable foundation for a better future.

Mokoena will make his first stop at Town Hall at 9am for the CWP programme, then move on to handover BNG homes to deserving beneficiaries in Extension 8 and 9, Namahadi at 10am.
