
The Free State MEC for the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Ms Dibolelo Mance will today, 12 March 2025, handover the completed phase 2 of the Tshireletsong Children’s Home in Bloemfontein to the Department of Social Development.
Mance says the handover marks a significant milestone in providing a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable children.
With all necessary refurbishment work now finalised, the Centre is ready for formal handover to the Department of Social Development, which will assume full responsibility for its operation and future maintenance.
MEC Dibolelo Mance expressed her satisfaction with the project’s completion, stating:
“It gives us great joy to see this beautiful facility fully completed and ready for use. The Department of Social Development can now continue its vital work in providing shelter and care for children in need.”
Phase 2 of the project included extensive upgrades such as dormitories, classrooms, the construction of a guardhouse, external works, a sports centre, and comprehensive electrical and mechanical improvements for both dormitories and offices.
The handover will take place at Tshireletsong Children’s Centre in Bloemfontein at 10am.
