The Free State government is on a quest to grow its economy and revive some of the key industries within the province; these includes the textile industry that has the potential of creating hundreds of jobs and contribute significantly towards the province’s GDP.
The Free State MEC for Economic Development and Tourism (DESTEA), Mr Ketso Makume will drive a Business Breakfast engagement session aimed at accelerating transformation, supporting industry stakeholders to collectively combat non-compliance, advancing economic growth, investment and unlocking access to market opportunities on Friday, 19 September 2025.
Through this engagement session, members of QwaQwa Textiles Cluster will network with potential funders from both the private and public sectors.
The session will play a crucial role in inviting textile producers within the industrial park and officially introducing the members of QwaQwa Textiles Cluster Committee members to the Executive Authority.
MEC Ketso Makume explains that this business breakfast sought to facilitate open dialogue, promote public private partnerships, share key economic insights, and raise awareness of the department’s on-going business support initiatives.
“It forms part of departmental broader mission to build a resilient economy that attracts investments and generate sustainable employment,” said MEC Makume.
The business breakfast engagement will take place the Environmental Education Centre, Phuthaditjhaba in QwaQwa from 9am.
